James' 1985 Camaro Sport Coupe

My car is a 1985 Camaro Sport Coupe. I guess you could say that the car found me. I work at a Ford dealership in Nebraska, (even though I've always been a Chevy man) anyway, I came into work one morning and saw that someone had traded in the camaro on a Ford Explorer. The car didn't look like much then. It was pretty rough around the edges. It had been the victim of one too many bargain paint jobs. 4 in fact! I wasn't really in the market for a car but I always wanted a third generation Camaro so I took it out for a spin. Much to my surprise the car ran well and didn't have any of the typical F-body ratttles and squeaks. I found out later that the car had been owned by an older woman since new. Therefore it hadn't seen the typical abuse that so many older Camaro's get subjected to. I asked the salesman what they were asking for it and he told me $750.00 I told him that was more than I was willing to shell out for it and after much haggling I got the price down to $500.00. I brought it home and drove it for a couple of months. I decided that it was worth fixing up so I sent it off to a local body shop for some refurbishing. I had only planned on getting a nice paint job on it but as is always the case, as the project progressed, I ended up putting a new rear quarter, door skins, a rocker panel, and a new windshield on the car before it was all said and done! In the mean time I decided that just painting it silver would look nice but wouldn't have much pizazz. So since I have always admired the good old G.M. muscle cars of the 60's and 70's I decided to add the rally stripes in Black. It really stands out now and I have recieved lots of compliments on it. The looks on the faces of the guys at the Dealership was PRICELESS! They even offered to buy it back!! NO DEAL!
Thanks,James Voboril
